Who: Willard East Fourth Grade Students
What: Reading for Fun! Focus will be on the Missouri Mark Twain Award Nominee Books for 2016-2017. Meet over the summer and have lunch dates during the school year.
Where: Willard East Library
When:
Summer Meeting: Tuesday, July 12 (9:00 - 11:00 am)
School Meetings: Once a month during lunch (you will get to eat your lunch in the library)
Why: Because Reading Is Awesome but talking about what we’ve read makes it even better!
A Few Extra Details:
Students!!
You don’t have to attend every meeting.
You may read the books independently by yourself, or listen to someone else read the book or a combination of both. (the last one is often my favorite)
You may read one or all of the Mark Twain Award nominee books. It is up to you. If you read 4 of the books from the list, you will be invited to vote for the Missouri Association of School Librarians Mark Twain Award. If you read 5 or more of the books from the list, you will be part of the Book Club Hall of Fame and have your picture on display outside the library. If you read all of the award nominee books we will have a special luncheon to celebrate!
Teachers!!
You can also be part of our club. We need reading mentors like you!
You too can meet the above requirements of 4 books = a vote for the MASL Mark Twain award and 5 books = your picture in the award hall of fame.
If you read at least three of the books aloud to your class then lunch one day is on me! (you can choose any of the 2016/2017 award nominee books)
If you are interested in being a reading mentor, let me know. We can pair you with a student or students who are interested in reading the same books from the list as you. :)
Please let me know if you have ANY questions. I can’t wait to get started! (actually, I’ve already started with Zane and the Hurricane) --Mrs. Hillenburg
