These new BreakoutEDU boxes are so much fun! Mrs. Moore's 4th grade class recently broke into this breakoutEDU box. It was a Dr. Seuss challenge using the book, Oh The Places You'll Go. They worked as a team, deciphered clues, checked facts and accomplished their mission. Congratulations! You can find more breakoutEDU box challenges at the link below! We are already looking forward to our next one! http://www.breakoutedu.com/

What ARRRRGH You Reading? The kids are loving this pirate book fair theme! Open House is Thursday, October 6. The book fair will be open from 5:30 - 7:00. Hope to see you there! This beautiful true story is about a gorilla in the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. Little Umande needs a mother and travels to a zoo in Columbus, Ohio to find LuLu. Students quickly fell in love with Umande and LuLu. We also visited these amazing zoos via their home websites. I thought you might enjoy a look around as well so I've attached links below. Enjoy! Columbus Zoo Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Ask your child about: habitats, mammals, The Congo, and Africa.

If you have any questions, please ask me. I’m looking forward to working with you this semester. Mrs. Hillenburg :) As a child I used to watch The Wonderful World of Disney. I was always extra excited to see an episode featuring Winnie the Pooh. I loved the connection that Pooh bear had with Piglet, Tigger, Kanga, Roo, Owl, Eeyore and especially his love for Christopher Robin. The true story behind the real Winnie is just as wonderful as the lovable Disney version. Ask your child about this delightful story by Lindsay Mattick. And, if you get a chance, your should read it yourself. The Mark Twain Book Club

(actually, I’ve already started with Zane and the Hurricane) --Mrs. Hillenburg Directed by Noah, Caleb and Quincy Directed by Rhett and Jaylee Directed by "US" Directed by Alana and Matthew Directed by Gracen and Jase Directed by Landon and Danny Directed by Eli and Claudia Directed by Ayden and Slayden Each STEM club starts with a team challenge. This week students were challenged to create a cup tower without touching the cups with their hands. They were given a rubber band with yarn tied to the sides. Each team had their own unique strategy to stack the cups but in the end everyone was a winner! Lego Movie Maker app was the tool used this week to finish our 2 day challenge to create a stop motion animation film. Students used the Lego set that they created last week to act out the plot they created. Editing, film speed, music, graphic and a steady hand helped to create some one of a kind movies. Great Job!
Our Willard East Library has had our very own fish for most of this school year. The students named him "Tiger" and he has lived a pretty normal quiet fish life. That is until Easter weekend. Students have used spiral writing notebooks to write notes and letters to Tiger throughout the year. Some have added pictures or poetry to Tiger's notebook as well. We returned from break to find that Tiger had been busy. He crafted his own letter back to the WEE students. It was a fun surprise for all of us! Thanks Tiger!
