Everybody is smart in different ways. "But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its life believing it is stupid.”
--Albert Einstein
This wonderful story features Ally, a creative misunderstood girl who has been labeled a "troublemaker" and Mr. Daniels, the patient intuitive new teacher, who sees the potential in Ally and helps to build her confidence in school and in life. I read this book to a group of 4th grade students a year ago during the Global Read Aloud Challenge. I'm thrilled that it made the Mark Twain award list for this year. My hope is that every teacher takes the opportunity to read this book and that every student has the opportunity to be in a classroom with a teacher like Mr. Daniels.
